Driven to innovate, Best Buy’s newly-formed in-house creative department called for equal innovation from its production partner. From the outset of their brand refresh, we engineered a non-traditional system for producing 50 spots a year while retaining top-tier vendor talent, building on efficiencies, and elevating communication. From there, we were off to other assignments. We built a large-scale operation for high-quantity, high-quality branded social content. And we captured the impact of a powerful community program.
Let’s Talk About What’s Possible: TV/DV Commercials
With Best Buy Creative Services launching their new brand identity, we rethought their production approach. We choreographed systems at the highest levels and engineered a layered operation, managing live-action production, CG at studios, and editing over dozens of spots simultaneously.
We built a replicable system and a rolling operation, managing elements and specs for product from Samsung to Whirlpool to Apple. Our hybrid approach eliminated communication redundancies and allowed us to work smarter across the partnership.
Teen Tech Centers
In the spirit of Teen Tech Centers’ mission, we enlisted authentic, emerging talent to capture and shape a portrait series of the program’s impact. Through mentorship and access to technology, Teen Tech Centers train young people for tech-reliant jobs through mentorship and access to technology. The strength of the program was highlighted by original spoken word pieces written and delivered by the students themselves in these award-winning portraits.
For Best Buy’s YouTube channel, we brought The Lab to life, featuring Blue Shirt employees cast from around the country, testing and sharing their opinions on a range of products from Best Buy’s vendors. We partnered at the idea stage with Best Buy's Creative Services to plug into their daily operation in Minneapolis, then prototyped a cost-effective, agile production model for producing batches of videos. Running the program for six months, we were able to streamline processes in real time and design a roadmap to operational handoff.
